MUSICAL THEATRE INTENSIVE:

Study Musical Theatre Performance with Industry Professionals

● College Prep Track

This two-week program offers a unique, holistic, approach to musical theater training and is customized to serve students' individual needs. The curriculum incorporates self-care and prioritizes wellness-based practices. Emphasis is also placed on the exploration craft and one's artistry as well as the nuts-and-bolts of healthy, sustainable technique. In addition to working with top industry professionals’ students will enjoy quality time on the lake swimming, kayaking, and building friendships that will last a lifetime!


Performance Track: This track is designed for students who are entering their sophomore, junior, senior year or areMT5 attending college in the fall and want to focus on musical theater performance and audition skills training with top industry professionals. This track will include classes in voice, dance, acting and audition technique. The program will culminate in a showcase of work for parents and friends.

Both tracks will participate in classes that are designed for performing artists to better navigate stress management, performance anxiety, life skills, digital wellness,vocal health, how to further develop their unique voice as artists and more. There will also be crossover in some performance-based classes, and the final showcase for friends and family.

 
College Prep Track: This track is designed for students who are entering their senior year or taking a gap year and areMT2preparing to audition for university musical theater programs. Students will follow a rigorous course schedule that includes song and monologue coaching, voice lessons, dance call prep,and other skills needed to prepare for a successful college audition process.


Additionally, students will have the option to film their required audition media on site, meeting all requirements of the Musical Theater Common Prescreen (MTCP). The program will culminate in a showcase of work for parents and friends.

 

Award winning actress, educator, producer, director Kaitlin Hopkins currently serves as Program Coordinator. Hopkins has worked on and off Broadway and in film and television for over 30 years and has garnered international attention for her holistic approach to artist training. The MT Intensive was founded by Stephen Agosto, who drafted the nationally recognized MTCP criteria in 2018 and is currently the Director of Theatre at Walnut Hill School for the Arts.

Cost: 

  • $3,600 - Program without Prescreen Filming
  • $4,000 - Program with Prescreen Filming (Open to Incoming Seniors)

Morning:MT3

Industry and Dance Classes

Afternoon:

Private Voice, Monologue Coachings, Musical Theatre Performance

& Recreational Activities

Evening:

Showcase Rehearsals

Social Activities 

 

Admission and Audition Process:

  1.  Beginning October 1, 2024, complete Online Registration HERE including:Video of one vocal selection (60-90 seconds) that shows off range. Selection must accompanied and NOT acapella. 
    • Video of one-minute monologue, memorized
    • Headshot and Resume
    • $75 non-refundable application fee.
  2. All materials will be sent to faculty for review.
  3. Students will be notified on a rolling basis. Please note, the $500 deposit will be due upon admission to the program.

 Students that are not offered a position may still apply for the NEMC Core Session.
